Bangalore is located at an altitude of 3018 feet above sea level with summer temperatures ranging from 20°C to 35°C and winter temperatures ranging from 12°C to 30°C. 

Coorg has the highest elevation, making it cooler and mistier compared to Mysore and Bangalore.

How to Reach

  1. By Air: The nearest airport is Mysore Airport,  but direct flights to Mysore are limited. The airport is small and mainly serves regional routes. If you are traveling from other major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, or Kolkata, you can take a flight to Bangalore. On reaching Bangalore you can take a private cab and reach Mysore which is about 145Kms and will take approximately 3-4 hours. 
  2. By Train: By train from Bangalore to Mysore will take 2hrs 45mins.
  3. By Road: Distance between Bangalore and Mysore is 145Kms which will take 3-4hours by private cab.

Detailed Itinerary For The Whole Trip (2 days 1 night)

Day1:

We started our Mysore Coorg Package from Bangalore journey from Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore at 7AM on Saturday in ola outstation cab. Places we visited were Brindavan Garden, Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, Mysuru Palace and Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens.
First we visited the Brindavan Gardens. 
Brindavan Gardens, located near Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam in Mysore, is one of India’s most beautiful terrace gardens. Spanning over 60 acres, it is inspired by the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir and features lush greenery, vibrant flower beds, fountains, and well-manicured lawns.
Brindavan Gardens is a popular tourist attraction in Mysore, ideal for family outings, romantic walks and photography lovers. Though we visited the garden in the morning time but the best time to visit the garden is during the evening after the sunset when the musical fountain show starts. The garden comes alive with lights and fountains, making it a must-visit after sunset.

Brindavan Gardens

After that we visited the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple which is located in the Chamundi Hill (1,060 meters), Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is a highly respected Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the deity of the Mysore royal family.

After that we visited the Mysore Palace in the afternoon. Mysore Palace also known as Amba Vilas Palace is a symbol of Karnataka’s rich heritage and architectural grandeur. The palace, once home to the Wadiyar dynasty is illuminated with over 97,000 lights every evening, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Inside, visitors can explore ornate halls, exquisite paintings, and a dazzling Durbar Hall.
Visit the palace by afternoon so that you can come in the evening to watch the light and sound show. Do not miss this show.Its really awesome.

After visiting the Mysore Palace we went to Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens. It is located near the Mysore Palace and it is a must visit for wildlife lovers and families. Popularly known as Mysore Zoo, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens is one of India’s oldest and most well-maintained zoos, established in 1892 by Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar.

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysore Zoo)

After visiting the Mysore Zoo we again came back to Mysore Palace in the evening to enjoy the light and sound show.
After watching the Mysore Palace light and sound show we went to our hotel which was near to the Mysore Palace.

Day2:

Next day after having our breakfast we headed towards visiting Coorg. The distance of Coorg from our hotel near Mysore Palace was approximately 118Kms and which took 2.5 to 3hours. Places we visited were St. Philomena’s Church, Namdroling Monastery, Raja’s Seat, Abbey falls, Madikeri Fort and Harangi Reservoir.
On the way to Coorg we first visited the St. Philomena’s Church, then we went to Namdroling Monastary. Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple is a magnificent Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in Bylakuppe, Coorg. The monastery is famous for its stunning golden Buddha statues and peaceful ambiance with serene surroundings and prayer chants.

Namdroling Monastary

From there we went to Raja’s Seat. Raja’s Seat is a picturesque viewpoint in Madikeri, Coorg, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Western Ghats. The name “Raja’s Seat” means “Seat of the Kings,” as it was where the kings of Coorg enjoyed the scenic beauty.

Raja’s Seat

Next we went to Abbey Falls. Abbey Falls is a picturesque waterfall cascading from a height of around 70 feet amidst dense coffee and spice plantations. Surrounded by lush greenery, the falls are accessible via a short walk through tropical foliage and a hanging bridge offering a close-up view.

Abbey Falls

Next we visited the Madikeri Fort and then we went to our last spot Harangi Reservoir. On the way we stopped at a shop to buy some local coffee and some local sweets.
Harangi Reservoir is a serene and scenic dam built on the Harangi River, a tributary of the Cauvery River, near Kushalnagar, Coorg. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, it is a peaceful getaway offering picturesque views and a relaxing atmosphere. The dam is especially stunning during the monsoon season, when the water levels rise, creating a breathtaking sight. A great spot for picnics, photography, and nature walks.

Harangi Reservoir

After spending time in Harangi reservoir, we had some snacks and then started our return journey to Bangalore.
The distance from Harangi Reservoir to Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore is approximately 245 km which took us 6.5-7hours. It was very late in the night we reached Bangalore.
